    “But the design of Amazon’s HR department reflects the strengths and weaknesses of the company’s culture. It’s heavily automated, which helps Amazon grow quickly and restrain costs but these days leaves employees hitting dead ends with chatbots, smartphone apps and phone trees.”

    There is great hypocrisy by those who criticize Amazon and other employers for abuse of their workforce, and for profiting at their expense, who post such remarks online using phones bought on Amazon and made in Apple, Samsung, Motorola, etc. sweat shops in China.

    I support worker’s rights through workers comp laws, OSHA regulations that make sense, and other statutes. I didn’t buy my phone on Amazon, and don’t use it to post comments. I would buy a phone made in the USA if they were available in the future.

    Automated Autos, um, cars.
    Automated Customer Service Phone Lines. {Press 1 for English. Primo dos para Espanol.}
    Automated HR Services. {“Your daily performance review is in your inbox. Now, get back to work or you will be reprimanded up to two times, … (misc. legal disclaimers) …. etc.”}

    What’s next in the growing line of automation disasters?…. Automated DMV?

    This article is based on speaking with 6 employees? I could find 6 employees with complaints at most companies that employ 100 people. The article may have some merit but to publish it based on information from 6 employees is odd.

      While I agree this is a small sample size limitation with the report, I’d argue EVEN ONE person who “is owed back pay for time spent on sick leave or in quarantine” or has “been scheduled…denied leave despite providing documentation of conditions Amazon says should make them eligible to stay home without pay” is one too many.

    Have you ever tried to find someone to talk to at Amazon about a product issue? I have had several very frustrating interactions with chatbots with no way to resolve what was irking me. It is sad to hear that their own employees aren’t any higher on the scale of interaction.

    (And you wonder why you can only find 6 employees with complaints. I can’t even apply for a job due to their extremely broken system.)

    I couldn’t even get the website to let me apply for the new Akron, Ohio warehouse job.
    It let me create a job account, but when I click apply I get redirected to the ‘Amazon Jobs’ login page. I login, but nothing happens. The job doesn’t get applied for..

    I tried to message HR thru their own website:
    https://www.contact-human-resources.com/contact-us/

    but this is all I get:
    “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.”

    I think I’ll look elsewhere for employment. I should have known better after reading all the reviews.
