IBM is cowering to the pressures of groups that do not fully understand the benefit of personal safety and property security if AI for facial recognition technology is used reasonably and justly.

FRIA (Facial Recog AI) is a powerful anti-terrorism tool when used in public transportation hubs (airports, bus stations, train stations, subway platforms). It has potential for abuse when mis-used privately by individuals or businesses for nefarious purposes. Fair and proper regulation of government use of FRIA by watchdog groups is needed, and current regulations should be reviewed for fairness and propriety.

        Jon- You are so enlightened.

I’m about as far right as Anifta and I don’t think facial recog is a good thing…..just saying.

I’m well aware you’re a crazy enough right-wing zealot that you believe Antifa is a real threat, Jack. I just like pointing out the hypocrisy of your party, because they’re the ones doing things like this, searching our phone histories etc. you’re on the side of Fascism, is what I’m saying.

ANTIFA is a real threat. That is not crazy right wing.

            We are not fascists.

But on this note, you can’t simultaneously say the far right is fascist for being against facial recognition and fascist for being for it. As it is, the right is somewhat divided on this, but, Agent represents the minority on this one. Jack is the majority on it.

When you take a minority opinion of a party and call a regular person who doesn’t side with it, or the majority hypocrites due to it, it is just a cudgel and labeling, that does not meet the demographics.

            You remain out of line.

ANTIFA is not a real threat, you’re delusional. “You can’t say the far right is fascist for being against facial recognition” I said no such thing. You’re twisting words in a dishonest fashion, much like fascists do!

You can claim to be against it, but your party is still for it. Thus, you are hypocrites.

The party of small government is now saying we need more government involvement. Do you even hear yourself, Polar? You’ve been pushing for deregulation across every industry, but now you’re arguing the opposite to make yourself sound reasonable. Hilarious

I’m glad they came to their conscience remembering that IBM is responsible for cataloging and recording and identifying data on all the Jews during World War II. IBM provided information on the Jews to the Nazis, and without IBM’s help, many Jews might have gotten away. IBM pin pointed each and every one.

This is big brother and you should be afraid. Everything can and will be held against you. The information can also be misused. Laws are changing everyday. Remember, EVERYTHING the Nazis did – was LAW. Laws were changed and Jews (and 5 million others) were out! By the way, many other companies helped the Nazis and are still in business this day.

Privacy is very important and you should protect it. Do you have curtains over your windows? Then you want privacy. Don’t be foolish – everything can and will be held against you.

Right! Even in the United States of America – this actually happened. Japanese Americans – non-criminals, farmers and productive citizen TAXPAYERS were all put into internment camps during World War II. How did the USA know where to find them . . . the census. Willingly provided additional information. So, what do we learn from this. Only report the number of people in your household during the census. Everything else can and will be held against you. I think the new census questionnaire going around this year is like ten pages or more – asking a bunch of information – that many people are voluntarily providing. By law, you only need to give the number of people in your household – and that’s why if you look at the form, its the only shaded squared off area. The rest is fodder for the data monster.
