Everyone has gone completely crazy. This virus for healthy young adults (like athletes!) will do nothing more that make a person sick for a couple days. like the flu. Many will be asymptomatic. Did we do this for influenza that shows up every Fall and Winter, when football is traditionally played? NO! Why this hysteria? Everyone is acting like COVID is a death sentence for anyone who gets it, and therefore extreme precautions need to be taken. It’s NOT! In the past did student athletes or employees sue their school or employer if the got the Flu? NO. This should be no different.

So where did you get your medical science degree from? And where exactly are you a leading virologist? Do you make a habit of standing around and claiming you’re an expert in fields you know nothing about regularly or just this particular matter?

We’re over 120,000 dead, I think maybe if you want to go out and lick doorknobs be my guest, but you’re a fool for spreading such a ridiculous attitude towards the disease. We’re going to be well over 200,000 dead by November thanks to people like you.

Equating COVID-19 with the flu proves your knowledge on this topic is significantly deficient.

      Abolt,
This disease has killed an ultra-marathoner, caused a woman in her 20’s the need for a double-lung transplant, and put my 35 year old brother-in-law out of commission for about a month. Ever had the flu last for an entire month? It’s attitudes like yours that is causing spikes in the red states while the blue states are seeing serious reductions in their cases and deaths. People aren’t ready to risk it, even the Mad Red Hatters, which is why only a little over 6,000 attended the Red Mad Hatter convention in Tulsa.

The issue is not only the school’s intent to protect it’s interests or the athlete’s lack of awareness or their willingness to participate in sports, but to guard against lawyers . . . including those who circumscribe the minutiae of every intent and those that lurk in the shadows waiting for the inevitable “token” lawsuit when an athlete can’t play or is told they can’t play.

Let’s try this . . . have every student athlete decide if they still want to play their sport. If they are below the legal age of consent, have their parent’s acknowledge their decision. If they are a scholarship athlete, they might lose their scholarship or eligibility if they elect not to participate. Decisions have consequences.

Let people make their own decisions and keep the lawyers out of it.

The decision to not play a sport that could potentially ruin your life just has the consequence that you might lose your education? I’m sorry, I understand you fascists like to make people take these kinds of choices, but it’s not your right, entitled boomer. College was like $300 when you went to school and now you’re whining because someone doesn’t want to catch a potentially life-threatening disease. How out of touch are you?

That’s right, Jon. It’s fascist mentality like this that is telling employees if they don’t go back to work, they will lose their jobs and any chance of obtaining future unemployment. I say this because this is exactly what Republican Gov Kim Reynolds said in my state. But yet, I keep hearing conservatives like Yogi keep saying no one is being forced back to work. Now, we are going to force our athletes back on the field? Ludicrous!

Just wait until the swarm of personal injury lawyers start suing youth sports organizations. This will make the payouts colleges sports make to the lawyers seem like…well child’s play. There will be massive amounts of needless lawsuits filed against an enormous number of business, schools and other organizations filed by people who weren’t even sickened but merely heard about an exposure and suffered mental anguish.

just stop testing everyone. If you stop testing people, you won’t have so many cases.

my friend’s brother-in-law (his wife’s brother, who happens to live in Texas, by the way) with his 85 year-old father just tested positive for COVID, sepsis, and a blood infection. The whole family is absolutely freaking out, and is also scared to death for the 85 year-old father.

I’ve personally known several people who’ve contracted COVID19.
This thing is SERIOUS, and I sincerely hope none of you experience it. It’s not a “left vs right thing”, it’s not a “Chinese conspiracy designed to bring Trump down”, it’s NO JOKE, and it’s NOT OVER.

        be safe, everyone..

Let the virus come, so the healthy can get immune? I think many of us have gone this route and don’t know it.

Ask the morons across the pond who started this what we should do – just lock the sick people in their apartments until they starve to death?

or do like our governors and order the sickies back into the rest homes!

I told my ole’ lady I knew about this social distancing long before covid — before she came along the ladies social distanced themselves from me all the time!

How about we don’t listen to the moron in The Oval Office who completely botched a response to this which has led us to where we stand now?

“Let the virus come, so the healthy can get immune?”

      That’s a BIG question.

There’s NO evidence that people who get and recover from COVID-19 are immune from future infections, and even IF that happens, there’s no evidence indicating how long immunity will last (3 weeks? 3 months? a lifetime?)

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html

Per the CDC, the stats for COVID-19 are worse than previously known strains of the flu. But remember, we have vaccines for many of those flu versions. Young people can die from both “normal” flu and C-19. My understanding is many who die (young and old) have underlying health conditions or maybe don’t recognize the seriousness of what they have and seek medical help too late. Prudent measures are appropriate until a C-19 vaccine is developed and the population is innoculated.

And Jon, why can’t Abolt express his opinion without you ripping on him so hard? Why so mean?
