even if vaccine injuries are very rare, coercing people into taking it is so unethical as some people will be severely injured who may have otherwise chosen to not have an injection or to delay until after trials complete – it should always be up to the individual to assess the risks/benefits and to make a choice without interference.

in europe, however, vaccine passports really are an excuse for increasing state power – we can determine this as the EU have been planning for them since 2018.

Trials have been completed and the vaccine is safe. ~0.00025% of people who have been vaccinated have had a severe reaction to it. Can’t get much safer than that!

I’m not an anti-vaxer and I’m fully vaccinated but I do wonder if the severe reactions are really that low of a percentage why I personally know three people with bad reactions, two ended up hospitilized and one died. I chose to get vaccinated because I also know 4 people who died from the virus, 3 who did not have underlying conditions. I still believe in individual liberty and the right to make decisions for myself and not have the government force or coerce people to get vaccinated.

thanks for replying. i think it’s great that there are various vaccines available for those who want to have it, i just think it should ‘sell itself’. i.e. people should look at the numbers for the different demographics for covid risks and for vaccine risks and the government should remain neutral in the decision.

it should be about doing right for you as an individual and not worrying about whatever other people do.

the UK government has not made a convincing case that any vaccine reduces transmission – which is their go-to argument for vaccine passports

It should sell itself, but you are underestimating the stupidity of the average person.

It took us over 250,000 deaths before some people starting thinking “maybe it’s worse than the flu” and even then, a lot of those people still refused to wear masks in public and/or limit large gatherings.

Also, you’re underestimating the amount of disinformation that’s out there which is driving people’s decisions who THINK they’re educated but didn’t consume accurate information.

“people should look at the numbers for the different demographics for covid risks and for vaccine risks….”

They should, but where are the vaccine-hesitant getting their data from?

Do they understand the limitation of what’s being collected in a system like VAERS?

Do they know someone put in a side effect of the influenza vaccine stating it turned them into “The Incredible Hulk”, it got accepted, and could only be removed as a side-effect because he was contacted and expressly gave VAERS permission to delete it?

Do they understand if someone got vaccinated yesterday, got run over by a car today, and their family entered their death into VAERS that it’d count as a C19 vaccine death?

You’re putting too much faith into the average person’s intelligence, and it’s those folks who have kept this virus raging and those folks who will continue to extend this pandemic with their lack of action to protect their fellow humans.

I agree, ben. Please join me in the effort to eliminate all of the coercion related to the common childhood vaccines that people who may have otherwise chosen to not have injected into them or their children. Vaccines for diphtheria, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, tetanus, et al., are just too unethical in relation to the risk involved with the actual diseases themselves.

I am so glad that was sarcasm. I am so done with social distancing and wearing masks. I understand that some people are hesitant to get a vaccine, however they are prolonging this virus for all of us

Glad to hear that, JD! Without an (end sarcasm) or something like that, it’s really hard to tell especially since I have heard others — not on this site, but on the interwebs, which we all know is just a series of tubes — make that kind of statement earnestly.

all vaccines should be considered as individual products and not lumped together with the logic “as an overall product category they have been successful so every new vaccine that is manufactured must be brilliant as well”.

there are some in the childhood schedule such as rota-virus which people could argue are not as necessary as others. rubella isn’t really given as a benefit to a child, more to prevent CRS in pregnant women. very nuanced subject.

Vaccine trials are not complete and guarantees of safety are just hopeful thoughts. If the vaccines are so safe they’d be approved, NOT authorized by the FDA. The CDC is constantly changing its position and of course, the side effects are being underreported. No one should be mandated, coerced, or bullied into taking this vaccine until long-term side effects are determined. Now the vaccine is going to be authorized for children ages 12-15 based on a trial of 2,200 children, there is no way this is a credible trial.

The choice is very simple: If one doesn’t want to be be tracked on these apps, one doesn’t go to airports or venues. You DON’T have to fly. You DON’T have to go to a concert.
