Doug is exactly right about TWIA being broke. Neither political party will touch this problem with a barge pole. Attorney Steve Moystn is undoubtedbly very worried about who is going to pay his class action fees after the next blow. He wants it fixed.
Am I off base in thinking the homeowner needs to pay more? Why does everyone assume the State should be obliged to take care of their issues? They are choosing to live in the area, so they should be well aware of the risks. Paying more to live there is part of the deal, correct?
The Carrier I work for will not write in these areas. We were tired of paying for a new roof on a yearly basis for someone who deems their homeowners policy to be a maintenance policy too.
This is one broke momma! Did you get the part no one wants the bonds, so you can talk about funding all day long, but there is no funding in reality.
TWIA’s customers better hope against hurricanes!!

What great leadership.
What else would you expect from Texas State Government?
I’m surprised they haven’t asked the Feds for the money. They don’t have any problem having their hand out for that.
I guess TWIA is assuming that the agents E/O policy is going to pay the losses .
