I suppose he thought he could fool the Feds forever and not get caught. The gravy train is over now.

Does anyone really expect that he will repay $18million?

So illegal immigrants can come here illegally, commit mayhem, break our laws, etc., and they are viewed as civil rights heroes. And this guy gets this much time? Seems a bit excessive in my view. I get that it’s a serious crime. Wish we had some proportionality to people actually committing murders and other acts.

Wow. Did you have breakfast at the liquor cabinet today, Wayne?

Can you provide an example of an illegal immigrant who has “committed mayhem” in the United States that is currently being feted as a civil rights hero?

If a 14-year prison term for orchestrating a fraudulent scheme to steal $18MM in federal funds over 8 years seems excessive to you, what do you believe should be a reasonable period of incarceration?

Finally, what is the nexus between your straw man example and this actual incident?

So… Him basically stealing from the Federal Gov and causing us to eventually pay more in taxes due to not only his fraud but the costs to investigate / prosecute / and incarcerate is cool with you?

Unfortunately those that commit white collar crimes tend to steal millions and only get a few years, while those that commit burglary or armed robbery for 100’s to 1,000’s of dollars get 10-20 years.

Proportionally why don’t we toss them in jail for a day for every dollar that they stole? With a small multiplier if violence (say days x 5-10 depending on circumstances) or threat of bodily harm was involved (say days x3).

Doing a bit of math here…. Steal $1000.00 and wave a gun around while doing so (1000 x 3) / 365 = 8.2 years roughly. Seems fair no?

Mooch $18,000,000 from government or investors through Ponzi scheme or other method go to jail for roughly 49,315 years. A little excessive, so lets put in a multiplier of .001 (since his theft was in the millions). So 49.3 years or so. That seems fair.

A majority of the illegal immigrants come here to work and earn money for their families. Causing trouble is the last thing on their minds as it makes it more likely for them to be deported.

Ironically enough, it was our immigration policies that have actually increased the total number of our illegal immigrants. The following link references a great article in regards to that. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3407978/ It’s a bit of a read but that shouldn’t bother you, since you’re obviously an educated individual.
