TDI Says License Renewal Extension Ends May 31; Issues Cat Area Data Call

May 20, 2020

The Texas Department of Insurance has issued a reminder to agents and adjusters that the extension to renew resident licenses and complete continuing education due to the COVID-19 crisis ends May 31.

For licenses that expired in March, April or May, there will be no fine or late fee if licensees complete their continuing education (CE) hours and payment by May 31, the department said.

In a separate bulletin, TDI issued a data call for information from certain insurance companies writing property insurance in Texas during calendar year 2019. The information will be used by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association to calculate participation shares if assessments become necessary in 2020. Responses are due by July 10, 2020.

The catastrophe area includes Aransas, Brazoria, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Galveston, Jefferson, Kenedy, Kleberg, Matagorda, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio and Willacy counties, as well as portions of Harris County.

The data call in Commissioner’s Bulletin #B-0027-20 was issued to companies writing commercial property or businessowners insurance and certain farm mutual writing property insurance in the state.
