Most homeowner and commercial policies have a debris removal clause that is over and beyond the policy limits. Also, West Virginia has Law on the Books that all carriers have to comply with regarding debris removal, which includes notifying the jurisdiction immediately of the coverage in the event of a total loss.
This is just another money grab scheme from the City of Huntington and I surely hope that all carriers strongly resist any attempt by the “City” to ransom their policyholder’s money.
