charging too much. You mean to tell me after all the bad words the problem was the homeowner and absence of preparation?

    Wow!!

    What a revelation!

What does State Farm have to do with anything? Hurricanes will have to be dealt with every summer regardless.

…the proliferation of undercapitalized start-ups and the fact that insureds will have to look, at least indirectly, to the reinsurers for payment of claims. I do hope that there are a lot of cut-through clauses.

In hindsight, perhaps the braintrust on Gaines Street and in the Capitol should have thought of this when they were playing politics with the real insurers. But that would not have not allowed near so much grandstanding I guess.

Dont worry about us having water. Worry about Florida’s Citizens Ins. Co. and our State Cat fund having the money!

Oh, and lets see how many people step up to buy our bonds after a hurricane.

What really gets me pissed is that these idiots CHOOSE to live there and don’t do anything proactive to help themselves as advised. But don’t worry, good old Uncle Sam and our tax dollars will build them new homes, feed and cloth them and get them emergency supplies. Yes sir your tax dollars at work! And of course these fools know that so that’s why they are so complacent! We’re the fools for bailing them out all the time!

Couldn’t agree more. You take the risk, you deal with the consequences. If insurance is available on the open market and you choose not to purshase it, you shouldn’t receive any aid from Uncle Sam. If your property isn’t valuable enough for you to protect, is sure as hell isn’t to me either. This country is on a slippery slope by giving too much to un-deserving people and reinforcing irresponsible behavior. And to those who really can’t afford insurance………tough _hit.
