The arrest rate of schizophrenics is significantly higher than the norm so perhaps there are public records. There have been a few arrests in recent months in my area that the news has report a name and disease together. And you can google a lot of information these days…
I would have to guess that if you knew that you came from a donor and so did your partner, you might do a bit of research to see if you could find out anything. Just my guess though.
This story is disturbing on many levels, and the only one here who will really suffer is the child. Do the parents now somehow love the child less because the new information doesn’t support their “designer kid” concept? He’ll now be the subject of ridicule from anyone who comes in contact with this story and knows his parents.
Interesting point. Seems like you need to prove “damages” in some way and how do you do this? There is no guarantee that a child, parented by gifted parents, will also be gifted, smarter, etc. If the child is healthy and has no learning disabilities then what are the damages?
Also, any monetary awards need to be set aside for the child and not available to the parents.
Wonder what kind of records on the donor they could access to find out he’s schizophrenic… Wonder who can access my mental health records…

I guess the moral here is to scrutinize candidates extra carefully, as donors might not always live up to what they semen to be.
“scrutinize”, as nature had intended, i.e. having sex together. Oh my- what an original idea…..
…or they’re just guys that like to…
oh, never mind
Never thought of it until this article, but what checks and balances exist to keep this guy’s offspring from mating with each other?
Good question. My guess is none.

…the Force will stop them.
Adoptees face this risk as well. That person who you just fell in love with could very well be a blood relative.
It worked out for the Targaryans for many generations.
But I thought “…every child knows that the Targaryens have always danced too close to madness” and that it runs in their blood.
-Watcher of GoT but haven’t read any of the books
My son is anxiously awaiting the results of this suit to determine if he can sue his mother for not properly screening out the idiot who fathered him.
Fantasic comment! Loved it!
Best. Comment. Of 2015.

Genetics are a fickle beast.
So, “He was eloquent, “mature beyond his years” and had “an impressive health history,” ”
or,
*talked alot (presumably to himself and the voices inside his head), was
*much older than he looks, and also had
*long list of medical conditions
sounds like they were vaguely on the mark with their description, depending on how you choose to read.
Well played Original Bob.
Need some product liability/recall or warranty insurance? (For future) – sorry no retroactive dates back that far. :)
Hey, I’m a schizophrenic……………….. And so am I!
This lawsuit has no merit. Their just shooting blanks with the legal system.
Insurance people love to joke around, but this situation is another of myriad examples of faith and reason agreeing: artificial insemination is bad.
Does the bank still need donors? I am available…
