THIS person is a walking explanation as to why driverless cars should be widespread. She’s probably uninsured, and uninsurable after 17 DUI’s, and has no assets except for a forgiving fool of a father.
A driverless car wouldn’t help her. She likely wouldn’t be able to afford one. This lady needs a little dose of reality. She needs to do some time behind bars. Her father needs to get her some help instead of making excuses for her.
Just for the sake of discussion, how would you suggest her father proceed to get her help? I agree, he should stop enabling her, but how can he get her help, assuming she doesn’t voluntarily seek help?
how would that stop her from taking the keys and driving the car without permission. someone with 15+ DUI’s clearly doesn’t care if she’s thrown in jail (be it for DUI or theft of a motor vehicle)

She couldn’t get insurance even if she wanted to. You do need a valid license in order to purchase insurance. So everyone is at risk with this alcoholic on the road. She needs to be locked up.
Agreed! 16 charges of driving on a revoked license? The revocation is obviously not keeping her from getting behind the wheel. Let her dry out in jail, and put her somewhere she might get some treatment.
The only place she should be is in jail or a sanitorium. Usually, multiple DUI drivers will kill someone at some point. Did anyone see the story about the woman in Las Vegas that ran over several pedestrians on the strip, killed one and several in critical condition. Will there be the same excuse for her? We do live in one screwed up society now.
It appears that nothing short of the loss of her freedom through serious jail time is going to keep this person off the roads and from drinking excessively. Put her in jail before she kills someone. No excuses, she has had way more opportunities to change than anyone is entitled to.
Corn won’t grow at all on rocky top,
Dirt’s too rocky to farm.
That’s why all the folks on rocky top
Get their corn from a jar.
Rocky top, you’ll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top Tennessee, rocky top Tennessee.
Sergeant York grew corn on the rocky top in Tennessee before WW1. Of course, it grew better in the valley.

Her Dad could start by not giving permissive use for her to drive his car.

Liz, You are right about that in the Standard Market. However, there are some disreputable agents who advertise, no insurance, no license, no problem.
reality, if she stays drunk most of the time, how would she ever program a driverless car to go anywhere?
What are they waiting for… her to kill someone? Put her in jail. It may help her clean up her act.

A “good person” doesn’t have 16 charges for driving on a revoked license. Jail seems like a good solution–and safer for the rest of us.
