I don’t think it is fair to judge a persons insurance rates by their credit or credit score, some of us can’t help the way our credit looks like. Some of us have made some bad judgement calls, like marrying a man who maxed out our credit cards and when we finally got a divorce from him we had to file a bankruptcy, because we couldn’t pay those bill no matter what kind of counselling help we would have gotten and back on our feet at the same time, without assistance and some of us will not ask the government for assistance.

    Melanie,
What about the people who scrimp, save and
sacrifice to maintain good credit, should they be penalized ?

I agree people who have been careful with their (good) choices, in life, should not be punished for other people mistakes, but should the people who haven’t, be punished for their (bad) choices, the rest of their lives or till they can improve it.

But the very premise of insurance is that some people will always subsidize the risks of others. It seems that the credit debate always overlooks that issue.
