When will someone tell the Army Corps of Engineers that a method that works in one place does not necessarily work everywhere. Whatever happened to thinking and evaluating individual risks!?!
All it takes is one toppled tree to bring down an entire levee system. Californians who live behind levees need to make a choice–do we want wildlife to dig their burrows beneath large trees on a levee and render the entire flood protection system useless, or do we want to protect our lives and property? By the way, I\’ve seen many of Gregory Kondos\’ paintings and never once have I encountered one depicting a tree lined levee.
