This comes as no surprise. What happened to their beloved Deerbrook Ins. Co.? Until they can learn to not insure in P/C high risk protection classes and let the surplus lines carriers have that niche, they will always have issues with CAT losses. Thanks for the surge of business Allstate. Glad to accommodate your better risks

    an Allstate agent in Kalifornia.

Reality check – what homeowner would really want to stay with a company that\’s stopped writing new homeowers business? Not me.

Looks like this is a side-door move by Allstate to reduce their overall agency plant, and reduce costs.

Sounds like real internal issues being blamed on potential external events. Allstate could have quietly re-underwritten its property book without a sound – if it had underwriters to do it! They obviously don\’t have the framework to stay the #2 position – hmmm, sounds familiar. Allstate, take a look at the new Russia – its your future!

This is a great example for not training their agents and underwriters upto the industry standard. Also, this should warn Farmers as well. Unlike State Farm, they are only concern about quantity rather than quality of business. Underinsured will reduce premium which cause underpaid and this is their outcome.

Allstate is probably reunderwriting their book of business too. They have had a lot of internal issues since the EEOC suit was filed a few years ago.

Sounds a lot like commercial carriers also – Quantity v. Quality. Chasing premiums to make the loss ratios look good.

Having cut my teeth with them in the 80\’s. I see they still are behind Farmers and S/farm in size. I can tell you that all that matters to Allstate is life insurance. They are a stock company and treat agents poorly. Thank goodness for the independent system.

California responds with a collective yawn. Like other carriers *won\’t* fill that vacuum. Good riddance, \”MostState\”!

Let\’s see if they continue to run those stupid \”That\’s Allstate\’s stand\” commercials on TV. I post these type of articles in my lobby, and I ask prospects if they are with the good hands people or are being treated like a good neighbor. Then I ask if they have any family or friends in Mississippi, Louisianna, Alabama, or Florida. If they do, I ask them to ask those folks how they feel about Allstate and State Farm and their commercials. I was a captive agent for 11 years and now look back and think that that was an awfull long apprenticeship.

It is the position of State Farm that the hurricane actually improved this kitchen. We should be charging the homeowner for improvements, not paying him for damages.

    *******

This house died of old age. Not covered.

    *******

I doubt there was even a house here to begin with. Investigate \”homeowner\” for insurance fraud.

    *******

It appears that some rogue appliances pushed a car into this house. I\’m absolutely sure that the policy doesn\’t cover damage from cars being pushed by rogue appliances.

    *******

OK, if the car ran into the house, then it\’s covered. But it looks to me like this happened the other way around.

    *******

If you look closely, you\’ll see that it\’s the porch that\’s damaged, not the house itself. We sell homeowner\’s insurance, not porchowner\’s insurance.

    *******

This house just quit. It doesn\’t look like it made even the slightest effort to weather the storm. We don\’t cover quitters.

Smart move, when your product is inferior it should be pulled from the shelf. In California Allstate has been offering an underinsured home product at market rates, underinsuring property 50 to 100%. Question will Statefarm and Farmers do the same thing?

STATEFARM, ALLSTATE AND FARMERS INS. ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CARRIERS WITH 0 AGENT KNOWLEDGE OF AND INSURANCE ISO FORM. THOSE AGENTS DO A TERRIBLE DESERVES TO OUR INDUSTRIES. BECAUSE OF THEIR POOR UNDERSTANDING OF THE MARKET. Farmers is absolutely the worst and should have left the state long ago

Forest Fires in Fl, Ca, Minnesota, NJ…etc, etc, etc,….. Next stop for Allstate to pull out of those States too? Losses are bad for business. If it can\’t take the heat, get out of the Kitchen! It\’s the proverbial \”garden hoe\” … hoe in that money towards the company, and don\’t push any backward…all this way, none away.. Adios, Tontos!
