1)Planning to run for governor 2)Didn’t research oppossing points of view and 3)using the “high profile” DOI position to promote his self interests = another compromised DOI Commissioner.
I wish he had rejected this initiative to start since it was filled with so many controversial problems with it. Think Steve before you put another press release out that might embarass you
I think that this could have actually been a great thing for California as well as Mr. Poizner in his political ambitions. And the sad thing is that the initiative could have passed.
There are so many uninsured now that my UM BI/PD rates are almost as high as my liability limits. This is a great example of a hidden tax and to allow a special interest group like the Greenlining Institute call the shots is an affront. I only hope that Mr Poizner gets to run for guv so that I can vote against him.
This is sad. I had really hoped for the passage of this initiative. I can’t believe he buckled to a few crying losers that pulled the race and poverty cards. Now, yet again, the hard working and law-abiding citizens of CA are getting royally screwed by the criminals and those who “defend” these criminals. I voted for this bozo but never again.
Regarding of the abandonment of the initiative to get tough with uninsured motorists, the first thing to do is to get the insurance industry behind mandatory auto insurance laws. State Farm Insurance, the largest insurance company in the country, is opposed (as I am) to mandatory auto insurance laws. Type the following into the yahoo search engine: “715 Insurers Quietly Oppose Mandatory Auto Insurance”
If you cannot get the insurance industry behind mandatory auto insurance, and the 50 million poor are opposed to mandatory auto insurance, it looks to me you are between a rock and a hard place. This is something even a caveman can understand.

As usual, the dead beats win again.

without the will to enforce them. Just one more nail in the coffin democracy.

I was hoping this would pass too; though I don’t live in CA. Somebody needs to pilot this as a way to hammer people driving w/out insurance.
