Almost all professionals will tell you that bully’s usually have an abuser in their background, this abuse is the product of unmet needs in the community like substance abuse, mental health issues, and worker anxiety. we should first address these issues before castigating offenders, or their parents, this way there will be no excuse for further offensive behavior, so more austere methods may be employed, such as removal of the offender from the environment, or subjugation to intrusive supervision, and segregation.
more violence added to the situation will not bring about a lasting solution.
cooperation between agencies in the community is the most effective, and economic way to insure tranquility in our schools. My main interest in this topic is how bullying affects the GLBT students witch have long been neglected.

When the bully is found and determined to be a bully, the parents should have to spend 24 hours in jail. That will stop the lineage of bullying. It has to stop somewhere. School is a place of learning, not worrying about your lunch money.

Good idea Baxtor. Personally, I favor a more draconian solution. Bring in another bully to kick the crap out of the first bully and tell him the beatings will continue until he stops beating other kids. Trust me, it will work.

OK GC, you make sense. BUT…..your solution should only be employed AFTER a bigger bully kicks the crap out of the first bully so he can understand the ramifications of his actions. I have to agree with Dave.

I’m really glad to see schools (and legislators) are finally waking up to the fact that bullying is abuse. It’s about time!

I could have saved a crap ton of money on bills from my therpist had bullying been reduced or prevented when I was in school. LOL-ing but it’s unfortunately true.

    Better late than never…
