Where was the GROW program when I was a young insurance female employee wanting a chance. Even when employers were forced by the ERA amendment to offer equal opportunities for women (and I was the first they signed up at my 1000+ employee company to meet the federal requirement) the men still didn’t want women to be equal. The men still dominate in the board room and in the senior positions nearly 40 years later. My own observational experience is that women work harder to succeed, but are appreciated for doing the work. Women aren’t promoted because then the men wouldn’t have someone to do the work so that their department can shine while the male leader takes the credit. Complaints of discrimination aside, it has been a solidly good career. It just could have been better for me and for my employer had they raised the glass ceiling.

I agree with comment above. The glass ceiling is firmly in place – not a crack anywhere to be seen…..
