While this was not the intent, since America defines alcoholism as an illness, this person has a point and could very easily win. I hope, however, the courts define the law narrowly and according to intent, but they tend to broaden as time goes on.
Did anyone else notice that when he was drinking, he was with other police officers? The arresting officers said he was one of most intoxicated people he had ever arrested so those police officers he was drinking with had to notice. Also, it makes a difference to many if you have a drunk driving ticket driving your own vehicle rather than the police car. This seems like a no- brainer…….

Alcoholism may be a disability, but driving while under the influence is a crime. Do we want criminals as police officers?
