It’s doubtful that Experian or those who use their data really care how are lives are impacted by their attitude. Most of the underwriters that use credit scores (and/or insurance scores) absolve themselves of blame when something goes wrong, indicating that’s just the way it is. The customer loses, we lose and the company using the incorrect financial data loses. It’s about time those who provide incorrect data join the club.

I had that problem a while back when buying a house. All I had to do was sign an affidavit saying that the erroneous information was not about me. (It was a Plumbing Comp with my name in the Company name.)

Maybe something more is going on? Or perhaps things have just changed since my experience.

Take a look at 6o minutes that aired 8-25-2013 (might be a re-run) the pure hell a woman went through to get her credit report from Experian corrected. It’s a real eye opener. For starters the report the bank (or other party) gets is different from the one we are given It took her 6 years and finally having to sue Experian to get it corrected.

I know a lot of underwriters and they are ALL concerned about getting the correct data. Some of the bureaus are more concerned than others. There is a trend for insurance companies leaving one of the bureau’s for data problems.
