Not a word about Sen. Calderon’s “reform” really being a sham to help enrich hDr. Michael Drobot, who is now testifying again at the Senator in a lawsuit brought by SCIF. No, those were not reforms. Once the Insurance Industry is invited to sit at the table and help craft a bill, then and only then will there be actual reform. This report omitted the fact that the bill wouldn’t have even been written if not for Drobot’s campaign contributions to Calderon. Hey, ostriches, get your heads out of the sand. Wake up! Workers’ Compensation in CA leads the nation in premiums. It is the greedy doctors and lawyers who are milking the system, not the insurers, and not the injured workers. We need cost containment reform to help get the greed out of the system, or decrease it to a manageable level. Don’t fear the truth! Embrace it!

It may be true that doctors are milking the system and the lawyers are padding their services for fees. But these individuals that are found to be doing these unscrupulous and immoral behavior ARE an exception–there are for the most part honest doctors and lawyers. We just need to sift them out of these profession. On the other hand Employers and injured workers are in fact predominantly impacted by these adverse schemes. Insurance are driven by profit by finding justification to raise premiums. After-all insurance industries do profit through fear driven tactics. Without tactical driven “fear” the insurance business of “risk” will not prosper. Politicians embedded with insurance industries understand they will prosper at either end(doctor versus patient and/or employer versus employees) of the risk. In other words, there are plenty of GREED to go around with for Insurance industries and Politicians where it IS mostly prevalent. CAP the damn profit margin and the pricing of drug companies and the medical services, and fee for services in these medical and legal profession ARE THE “KEY” for containing the greed and the cost associated in the medical industry. Furthermore, just like in the banking industry–where commercial banking should be “kept apart” from the simple depositor banking; so is it true that medical profession and services should be “kept apart” from the business of medical insurance industries. WHY? Because there is a conflict of interest and that should be eliminated. HMO model of medical delivery services is a form of monopoly and will almost always impact the consumer (whether it be the employer or employee, or any individuals that are receiving these services. SEPARATION of duties and eliminating conflict-of-interest ARE the fundamental rules of achieving a strong and effective “internal control” and good governance in ANY organization. Right now there many organizations participating in this orgy of conflicts and perpetual promiscuity of GREED. Sooner or later–it will catch and destroy any integrity of a systems that was once-upon-a-time an EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT forms of business and/or organization. WHO is to BLAME? YOU and ME (for that matter, all of us that are concern)that sat there and NOT done anything about IT and not learn anything of value from our past and history.
