Considering the current legal climate (no puns intended with the words), P G & E could mitigate their liability risk by suspending electrical transmission when the humidity drops below a designated level, perhaps 20%. Yea, this would result in some revenue reductions, but insulate the company from claims that their infrastructure causes fires. Similarly, some consumers might miss such things as lighting, refrigeration, air conditioning, traffic signals and running water and might demand legal changes enhancing immunity for the utility companies.

Let’s see. Liberal activists are targeting fossil fuel companies with lawsuits and other assorted abuse, even though those companies simply deliver products people want and need.

You think the PG&E CEO hasn’t figure out he is the next target of the climate crazies? Of course he has. “Stop using natural gas, you evil Earth-killing rich guy!” is what he expects the nuts to shout.

And so he spouts the usual climate zealot’s dogma: “Hey man, don’t look at me. I may be the CEO of a big energy company, but I can pray at the Climate Change alter too if you’d like. Just watch me.”
