The working class is literally dying in America. We had – for the first time in history – declining life expectancy, meaning increasing mortality rates, for 3 years in a row. This was largely in working class communities where job prospects are worse than 20 years ago, as globalization and automation and, yes, illegal immigration, destroys decent paying middle class jobs.

Working class people can’t afford houses or raising families and marriage rates plummet.

Now comes word that young people are consuming pot at record rates around the country, especially the working class.

Let’s all Celebrate! (while the clueless elites talk about transgender rights . . .)

High pot states like NY & Illinois both lost significant population due to low birth numbers and bad governance and high taxes. They also smoke a lot of pot.

You clearly don’t get it — I’ve told you numerous times marijuana is unsafe for children, pregnant women and people operating cars/trucks/machinery, and that it causes cognitive issues too. That doesn’t mean I think we need a ‘nanny-state’ government telling adults what they can and can’t do in the comfort of their own homes if they’re not endangering the lives of others.

Then what is your position on the dying middle class that consumes tons of pot? What is your position on Colorado reporting an increase in pot use for those between 12 and 21? What is your position on the expanding black market for pot? You think this is all an acceptable cost of keeping the “nanny state” off YOUR back? Or you really don’t give a crap about the poor or children, but just pretend you do, like most lefties?

Deaths, ruined lives, GDP harm, family destruction, you seem to have said you agree this happens to some degree from marijuana.

But you don’t want the government to intervene.

Except for with guns. Because Guns are bad, m’kay?

Really, you and Ron have your heads up your rear end with that ego “I don’t judge ” mentality, and think you’re so open minded and good. It’s really just narcissism. That’s all it is. Maybe try thinking a thought that doesn’t make you feel like you’re the best human being to all those around you, or the hero.

            Just a thought.

A tough one. A difficult one. I don’t think you have it in you. I think you’re like Lady Gaga

“I live for the applause, applause, I live for the applause plause, I live for the way that you scream and cheer for me, the applause!”

It sounds odd adding that in but dang it guys, when it comes to pot, this is clearly why you hold the position you do.

You constantly say you aren’t saying it isn’t bad (because you realized it is not a hero position to say that, since you endanger people) but you don’t want to upset the “I can do what I want” crowd, and “don’t judge” crowd, so you then follow up saying you accept the dangers, with hey you can do what you want. It’s a very safe position to take, one that keeps you with applause.

9 times out of 10 this is why you take the path you do, it’s very clear, and it’s why I call you two weak.

When did I ever say I didn’t want the government to intervene? I do. They should restrict purchases of marijuana to legal adults. People who sell to kids should be treated the same as people who sell booze to minors. They should arrest people driving while high.

One can support legal marijuana and believe there should still be laws against it too. You talk in absolutes.

I responded to your comment, which clearly discredited my connecting the dying middle class with growing pot use. That isn’t saying you are a bad person, just that your comment revealed you don’t care about the people and the issues I mentioned. Quite different from what FPF said about me being schizophrenic and demented and unkempt with a sandwich board.

And in any event, not everyone who does smoke pot is a go-nowhere loser like Craig Jr. There are millions of people who smoke pot on a recreational basis with no ill effect just as there are millions of people who drink alcohol on a recreational basis with no ill effect. Hell, some even do both.

It’s called personal responsibility, Craig, and it’s the assumed cost of enjoying personal freedom. And what greater country in which to enjoy personal freedom than the United States of America?

Yes. Yes. Ignore the real world impact of legalization. That is a form of lying, pretending the bad stuff just doesn’t exist.

Honest, intelligent, moral people address the downsides of their proposals directly and honestly.

I’m neither “proposing” anything, nor “running and hiding” or “pretending”.

I just want to live free and make my own choices in matters like drinking (I do), gambling (I don’t), owning firearms (I don’t), smoking cigarettes (I don’t) and smoking pot (I don’t), among the other decisions one faces in life.

I value that right, and gladly leave others alone to make their own personal choices. And while I don’t do many of the things I listed above, I support the rights of other adults to do so if they wish.

            It’s called “personal responsibility”.

The same thing that always happens with prescription heroin in this country – change the name of the drug and over-prescribe it again. Then say, “Oh no, we have a crisis, quit prescribing it.” This will eventually happen again with prescription heroin under a new name. Just give it about 20-30 years.

Rosenblatt: this might be my last reply to your thoughtless comments.

EVERY study on the increase in mortality in the United States ties it to drugs and suicide. And it is primarily in blue collar areas of the US where the death rate is highest. Which ties it to the despair taking place all over the country for working class people.
