From the IJ article: “Since 2001, Kreidler has assessed more than $27 million in fines, which are deposited in the state’s general fund to pay for state services.”

I completely agree with law forcing wrongdoers to pay penalties. In this case it is fair to assume that consumers suffered damages on a scale large enough to justify the State investigation. It is telling how we see no mention any of the $27MM collected directly compensating those who suffered direct damages. Instead, all the money seems to have been dispersed throughout State government. True meaning: Pay the ever-growing ranks of State employees and underfunded legacy costs at the expense of those who actually suffered the damage.

Where is the justice in this, other than squelching the bad actors who harm consumers?
