Pierson & Fendley, CAA

Combined Agents of America LLC, Austin, announced that Pierson & Fendley Insurance Agency LLC of Paris, Texas, joined CAA as the group’s 34th member.

Pierson & Fendley has served Paris and surrounding areas for over 70 years. Led by President Curtis Fendley, Pierson & Fendley, a full service agency, works primarily with Central Insurance Companies, The Republic Group, Safeco, Travelers, Encompass Insur-ance, and Union Standard Insurance Group.

Curtis Fendley has served on a number of Independent Insurance Agents of Texas committees and will be installed as a board member at IIAT’s annual conference, June 15-16 in Houston.

State National, United Specialty Ins. Co.

State National Cos. formed a new affiliate, United Specialty Insurance Company, which will exclusively service the surplus lines market.

State National is a privately held group of insurance companies and agencies. Affiliates include two companies rated “A” (excellent) by A.M. Best. Texas-based State & County Mutual Fire Insurance Company is a third affiliate. The headquarters are in Fort Worth.

Trident, Vaaler

Trident Insurance Services LLC, a subsidiary of San Antonio-based Argonaut Group Inc., formed an agreement with Vaaler Insurance to serve as its exclusive program manager for writing public schools in Minnesota. The program will be insured by Argonaut, with underwriting and claim services provided by Trident.

The property and liability school program offers general liability, educators’ legal liability, automobile liability, property, inland marine and identity theft recovery.

In addition to Minnesota, Trident underwrites public school programs in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma and Texas.

Vaaler is a regional agency located in North Dakota and Minnesota providing professional insurance and financial service products across the upper Midwest.

The Hartford

The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.’s Oklahoma City Personal Lines Insurance Center was named the fifth best company to work for in Oklahoma by the Best Companies Group, The Hartford reported.

The Oklahoma City office serves The Hartford’s customer base throughout the Midwest. It employs nearly 700 service and customer care professionals who handle auto and homeowners insurance sales and claims.

The Best Companies Group established rankings of the nation’s “Best Em-ployers” and “Best Places to Work” to spotlight companies that demonstrate workplace excellence.

The selection process for Oklahoma was based on the results of internal employee surveys. Winners were selected among medium-sized companies of 25 to 199 employees and large-sized companies with more than 200 employees. The Hartford was recognized in the latter category.
