Central TX CPCU Recognized

The Central Texas chapter of the CPCU Society (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters) was honored during the Society’s 57th Annual Meeting in Seattle, Wash., with the Gold Circle of Excellence Award. The chapter was one of only 14 in the U.S. to receive the award. The Circle of Excellence Award is presented to CPCU Society chapters that achieve specific benchmarks in chapter performance. Three levels of accomplishment are recognized-Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The Central Texas Chapter also received Awards for Excellence in Good Works, Continuing Professional Development, and Membership, and Awards for Achievement in Education and in Public Relations. As a feature of its Good Works program, members of the CPCU Society’s Central Texas Chapter are involved in a number of charitable, educational, and volunteer events throughout the year and in the community, including the Austin Alzheimer Memory Walk, Habitat for Humanity, Austin Food Bank, Salvation Army-Feed the Homeless, Beat the Heat fan drive, and support of Sims Elementary School and the Ronald McDonald House. Chapter officers for 2001-2002 are: president, Gene McConnell, JI Companies; president-elect, Phil Ballinger, Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas; vice-president, Ann Dunham, State Farm Insurance Company; secretary, Jay Waddell, Texas Municipal League; and treasurer, Jerry Benavides, State Farm Insurance Company.
