PIA’s online registration doubles for third year in a row

August 13, 2002

The number of people registering online for the Professional Insurance Agent’s education courses has doubled for the third year in a row, according to the Professional Insurance Agents Associations of Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York.

“We had more than 400 members sign up for education courses through our Web site when we first offered online registration for education in 2000,” Kenneth Bessette, executive director of PIA Conn., N.H., N.J., and N.Y., said. “Since then, we’ve doubled our online applications each year.”

PIA attributes the increase partially to the climb in popularity and comfort level with which people use the Internet as well as the introduction of PIA’s e-training courses. The courses, which range from property/casualty and life/health insurance topics to technology and business, to an orientation program for new employees, are available to the members of PIACT, PIANH, PIANJ and PIANY.

The courses are designed to help independent agents and brokers stay current in the ever-changing industry. To keep with the trends of technology, PIACT, PIANH, PIANJ, PIANY, in conjunction with MindLeaders—which has evolved into a leader in the information systems training market—offer an extensive library of top-quality, ready-to-use computer-based training and self-study products.

The courses are also designed to help individuals learn the latest version of Windows and other software programs with hundreds of online courses relating to desktop computing for home and small business, and Web development.
