Calvin Gregory, aka Calvin Green, was sentenced to one year in jail with all but 86 days suspended and one year probation for attempted insurance fraud against IWIF, Maryland’s largest workers’ compensation insurance carrier.
While working for a temporary employment agency, an IWIF policyholder, Gregory allegedly filed a false workers’ compensation claim and applied for Temporary Total benefits. The case was referred to IWIF’s Special Investigations Unit where a fraud investigator reviewed Gregory’s prior claim records and personally spoke with the attorneys that had represented him in the past.
IWIF’s investigator reportedly discovered most of Gregory’s lawyers had stopped representing the claimant for the same reason—the client’s lack of willingness to pursue his claims.
