N.Y. Agents Name Harleysville Top Commercial Partner

March 26, 2004

Pennsylvania’s Harleysville Insurance has issued a bulletin noting that for the second time in three years, it has been named the “Top Partner in Commercial Lines” during Westchester County’s 38th annual “E-Day” conference in Tarrytown, N.Y.

The announcement explained that “The Independent Insurance Agents Association (IIAA) of Westchester, Rockland and Putnam Counties, along with the CPCU Society of Westchester County and the Westchester Insurance Professionals, present two ‘Top Partner’ awards each year – based on agents’ votes – for commercial lines and personal lines insurance excellence. Award criteria include: claims handling, underwriting, products, accounting, market availability and attitude.”

IIAA of Westchester County board member Paul Sohigian of DeRosa, Rockefeller, Sohigian and Werdal, Inc. in Harrison, N.Y., presented a plaque to Geoffrey Bohanan, vice president and commercial lines underwriting regional manager for Harleysville Worcester Insurance Company, to signify the award.

“To be recognized by our agents is a great honor,” Bohanan stated. “Our employees have established strong partnerships with our agencies, and we will continue providing high levels of service to meet our agents’ and policyholders’ current and future needs.”

George L. Goodman, CPCU, president of the IIAA of Westchester County, indicated that the award honors carriers for their achievements as “our partners” in insurance sales. “The award recognizes companies like Harleysville that feel Westchester is a profitable place to do business. And companies that view our area as a growth territory tend to do well in the voting,” he continued.
