Your article is a just a rehash of AP articles in every newspaper a day or 2 old. What Insurance Tax increase are you or they talking about? Does this refer to the Law Enforcement fee on auto policies? (currently $5/yr) You are an insurance publication so why not look into these things and get us some answers that make some sense. Also, the “obesity” tax on sugar sodas is ridiculous. So called diet sodas are much more unhealthy with their manmade chemicals and will (and have) cost people’s health and resultant health care costs in ways unknown to these politicos in Albany who know nothing about health and controlling health care costs!

There was an article on this last week in this same publication and it DID include the numbers, percentages proposed…all of it. And no, it does not refer to the law enforcement fee.
Now, if you are an expert in the field of chemicals placed in diet sodas, I’d like to hear the particulars of that, how the chemicals are more harmful, etc. Taking this a step further, my wife has diabetes and I’m very interested in learning how sugar-loaded sodas are going to be healthier for her.

First I agree that this publication should stick to the insurance issues. I think the idea of tax on sugar sodas and not on artificially sweetened ones is going too far. Why not tax all soda, is it a necessity or a luxury?
Why not just raise the sales tax or income based taxes?

It is just so interesting that all the big states that are having financial troubles – New York, California, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey – are run by Democratic machines. People will never learn. Good-bye freedom! All the innocent tax-payers get stuck all the time and no protests.

The Tax is a premium tax that companies are requred to pay based on their annual written premium. Currently it is in the ballpark of 1%. Patterson is doing a good job of pushing business out of the state. He said a month ago that he was not going to approve any rate increases in the state over 3%, meanwhile he plans to milk the industry of more money??? You can get blood out of a stone!! This will create the withdraw of a portion of the available markets in NYS and then the residents of NY will have even less choices when choosing a carrier. I guess he doesn’t “see” it that way.

I think all these tax increases are stupid. We need a new governor who will stop fixing the states problems on our backs. Enough is ENOUGH. STOP IT.we as the people are straped for cash , we do WITH OUT , I hope alot of people leave ny. I’am going to be one of them. Take ny and shove it. They should cut all politicians salary’s and benefits to our level and see how they like life then. GET OUT OF OUR POCKETS & KEEP YOUR STINKING TAXES IN YOUR HEAD. ENOUGH , ENOUGH , ENOUGH , ENOUGH. CUT OFF ALL THE WELFARE TO ABLE BODIED PEOPLE WHO CAN WORK BUT CHOOSE NOT TO

Is this guy for real. People are walking out of their homes due to lack of finances and he expects the people that are barely hanging on to fork over their lunch money? This is a dumb as it gets. You want to save money? Get rid of all the state cars for officials. They make enough to buy thier own cars which will also help the car dealers in NY. There has to be a better way, almost getting to the point where we need to start pushing Back.
