$100M Gender Bias Suit Filed Against Quest Diagnostics in New Jersey

January 17, 2012

Female sales representatives for Quest Diagnostics are accusing the diagnostic testing company of gender discrimination in a $100 million federal lawsuit.

The federal lawsuit was filed Thursday in Newark, N.J., by two employees of the Madison, N.J.-based company. They are also seeking class action status.

Sales managers Erin Beery in Indianapolis and Heather Traeger in Bradenton, Fla., allege a wide range of discriminatory practices by the Fortune 500 company.

Quest officials say they have not been served a copy of the suit, adding they stand by their reputation as an equal opportunity employer routinely recognized as one of the top employers in the U.S.

The suit claims high-ranking company officials foster an “old boys’ club” environment and denies women equal advancement opportunities, among other allegations.
