September 10, 2012

Business owners in New York can now purchase commercial auto coverage directly from GEICO, which could lead to lower premium rates for many risks.

Commercial insurance packages cover the cars, trucks and vans used by small businesses such as contractors, retailers, caterers, professional services and others. In addition to providing protection for a variety of business vehicles, GEICO offers protection for business operations and property through the GEICO Insurance Agency.

“Customers can now contact GEICO for all of their automobile insurance needs, and through the GEICO Insurance Agency we can meet other insurance requests they may have,” said Pionne Corbin, GEICO director of commercial lines.

GEICO offers commercial plans to both new and existing customers and can provide free rate quotes. GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Co.) is a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies and is the third-largest private passenger auto insurer in the United States. GEICO handles auto insurance coverage for 11 million private passenger auto policies and insures more than 18 million vehicles.

In addition to auto insurance, GEICO offers customers insurance products for their motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), travel trailers and motorhomes (RVs). Coverage for life, boats, homes and apartments is available through the GEICO Insurance Agency. Personal umbrella protection is also available. Coverage for commercial auto insurance is underwritten by Government Employees Insurance Co. In some cases coverage is provided through the GEICO Insurance Agency, Inc., either under an arrangement with National Indemnity Co. (NICO), a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, or with non-affiliated insurance companies.
