Wish North State Autobahn the best of luck. Why haven’t Insurance Commissioners adopted rules or regulations prohibiting insurane companies from establishing these networks, which are utilized by many of the “discount” companies? Almost all legitimate body shops use a “crash” manual that specifies the number of hours needed to perform a particular task on a particular car. Parts prices are the same for all (assuming the cheapo parts are “equivalent”), so the major place for reduced costs is trhe cheaap, untrained labor used by the discounter body shops. Not in the public’s interests.
Many of our companies also have preferred body shops that adhere to quality repair for customer satisfaction on parts and labor. I am sure they have some agreements on labor charges, but I have not heard any complaints from body shops on being low balled on repair estimates. Our companies will also accept or work with any legitimate shop on repair estimates. Progressive is so big, they think they can just do whatever they want. I hope the shop recovers big time from them.
Progressive should have known better and I’m sure they did. It appears they tried to push this situation and got caught. I don’t feel sorry for them at all and I hope they get exactly what they deserve via the courts, fines, etc. Maybe Flo can find a way to explain this whole situation?
Progressive pushes the envelope all the time. They were trying to adopt the same thing Health Carriers & WC carriers do with networks and basically dictate to Body Shops for repairs, labor costs etc for sending them business and exclude a lot of legitimate shops for repairs because they weren’t in the network. In my view, this falls under the unfair trade practices and they should get a hefty fine. Flobot would have a better answer than the brain dead Flo trying to spin this.
Good for them!
Would liked to have seen a quote from Progressive for the other side of the story.

Progressive reps are still steering… they could care less about this law suit…
