Rhode Island’s state lawmakers plan to review the effects of climate change and rising sea levels are having on Rhode Island.
The House Environmental and Natural Resources Committee plans to hear a presentation on the impacts of climate change from Grover Fugate, executive director of the Coastal Resources Management Council.
The presentation is expected to include information about extreme weather events — such as last year’s Superstorm Sandy — and how a changing climate is contributing to higher sea levels.
The meeting will also include talk about how the state can better prepare for future changes due to climate change. The meeting is set for Thursday at the Statehouse.
