I do kind of wonder though, how a Lt. went in alone, without proper planning, and sent 7 distress signals without a response….all of it seems odd. Someone in that role should have gone in with a team/partner and an exit strategy.

When killed she was only a firefighter, the promotion was posthumously granted.

Another well written article from IJ. Firefighters do not typically fight fires with oxygen bottles on their backs but rather with SCBA tanks which are clean compressed natural air. Providing a fire fighter with pure oxygen while fight a fire would be a sure recipe for disaster. IJ if you are going to just post news feeds your editors should at least take moment to review from the perspective of an underwriter that looks at the facts.
