Bermuda-based Trenwick Group Ltd., an international underwriter in specialist insurance and reinsurance coverage, has named Michael C. Watson to head its London-based subsidiaries, Chartwell Managing Agents Limited and Trenwick International Limited, effective May 1st.
Watson, who previously headed the London and Bermuda operations of Fairfax Financial Holdings, will replace Pierre D. Croziat, who is retiring.
Trenwick has been expanding and consolidating its Lloyd’s operations as a syndicate manager and reinsurance underwriter. CEO James F. Billet, Jr. stated that the group was “on target to meet the expense synergies and performance targets we set for London within the two year time frame we allotted when we acquired Chartwell in 1999.”
The group also provides treaty reinsurance to p/c companies in the U.S. through Trenwick America Re, and specialty p/c insurance through the Canterbury Financial Group.
