Benfield Corporate Risk, the corporate insurance and risk intermediary catering for the risk management and transfer needs of the corporate sector worldwide, announced the opening of its first office in Australia.
Bypassing Sydney and Melbourne, Benfield opted to establish its office in Perth, the main city on Australia’s West Coast. “The new office will focus on the development of specialty business in the energy, power and mining sectors and provide support to Benfield Corporate Risk’s global offices for international customers,” said the announcement.
Alex Lumby, Simon Race and Stewart Henderson were named as the principal office managers. “Prior to joining Benfield Corporate Risk, Lumby was a Managing Principal and Senior Vice President at Marsh’s Energy Practice operating from both London and Asia Pacific, Race was National Practice Leader of Willis Energy, Australia, and Henderson was National Principal for the Pacific Region Energy Practice at Marsh,” Benfield said.
“Other recruits to the new team include Matthew Gibbs, former Energy Underwriting Manager of AIG, Western Australia, Ben Saunders whose previous experience includes the role of Risk Management Officer at Santos Limited, and Liz Quigley who joins from PWC,” the bulletin continued. “Together, the team has over 85 years of risk management and insurance experience and, specifically, a combined 45 years experience focussing on the unique requirements and environment facing the Australian resource industry.”
