Dignat Joins Guy Carpenter’s New European Solutions Group

March 19, 2007

Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, the global risk and reinsurance specialist of the Marsh & McLennan Companies, announced the appointment of Laurent Dignat, 41, to its newly created European Solutions Group. He “will be responsible for integrating the capital markets, structured risk and enterprise risk management disciplines in Europe,” said the bulletin.

David Priebe, Head of Guy Carpenter’s Global Specialty Operations, indicated that Dignat’s “blend of expertise in insurance, reinsurance, investment banking and capital markets makes him an ideal addition to our team. He will lead the new group, specializing in capital markets, ERM and rating agency services.”

Dignat joins Guy Carpenter from French bank Societe Generale’s Corporate and Investment Banking (SGCIB), where he led the alternative risk transfer (ART) initiative within the firm’s equity derivatives department. In that position he “specialized in developing innovative hedging and risk transfer solutions such as the recent ‘insurance volatility dispersion’ trades as global hedging against pandemic risk,” said the announcement.

Prior to joining Societe Generale, Dignat directed the French operations of the Centre Re Group, a subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services that specialized in ART and customized structured reinsurance solutions, from 2000 to 2003. Prior to that position he served as Vice President and Territorial Manager at Centre in Zurich, where he was responsible for structuring and executing transactions in the areas of capital market residual risks and structured reinsurance.
