Willis Group Holdings further strengthened its UK “Willis Commercial Network “(WCN) with the announcement that brokers Scrutton Bland Ltd. have joined the organization.
Willis established its Commercial Network in 1998, as a strategy to penetrate the SME (small and medium enterprise) market. UK brokers joining the network retain their independence, but can access Willis’ worldwide services network, helping them to “form stronger relationships with insurers, enabling them to provide better products, client servicing and policy terms.” And, as Willis notes, “obtaining substantial market share for Willis.” The WCN now has 75 local, independent brokers nationwide.
The Scrutton Bland Group are insurance brokers, accountants and independent financial advisers. “The business dates back to 1919, with the broking arm developing significantly in the last 20 years,” said the announcement. “Scrutton Bland now handles all aspects of commercial insurance as well as insurance for high net worth individuals.”
Tim Mulley, the Scrutton Bland Partner responsible for the insurance division, commented on the decision to join the Willis Commercial Network, stating: “We believe that we are now at a key stage in our development. The Willis Commercial Network offers us access to a wide range of resources and is just what we need to develop the company further.”
