Springett to lead Marsh’s Power and Utility Practice in Europe, Mideast, Africa

February 15, 2008

Marsh’s London office announced the appointment of Gordon Springett as Leader of its Power and Utility Practice for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He takes over from Mark Pollard, who was recently appointed Head of Industry, EMEA.

Marsh noted that its “Power and Utility Practice serves the electric, gas, and water industry and provides risk solutions geared towards the sector’s unique financial, regulatory, and operating environments. The practice comprises leading experts with an exceptional understanding of industry issues and marketplace demands.”

Before joining Marsh in 1990 via Sedgwick, Springett was Risk and Insurance Manager of UK Central Electricity Generating Board. During his career has worked across all areas of the power business, serving on many boards and associations.

Pollard explained that the “risk focus for power companies used to be primarily around equipment usage and performance. Now, firms are concerned about such risk issues as climate change, carbon emissions, power prices and fuel availability. This leads to an unprecedented range of opportunities for Marsh, and I’m very pleased that Gordon will lead our efforts to realise this potential.”

Springett added that he’s looking forward to “working with our network of EMEA power professionals to unlock even more value for our clients and prospects.”
