UK-based club-style MGA formation platform Castel Underwriting Agencies announced the appointment of Mark Posner as its chief operating officer. He will report to CEO, Mark Birrell, and lead the continued development of Castel’s scalable business processes, operational functions and management information provision.
Prior to joining Castel, Posner was operations manager at Tokio Marine Europe in London having joined the insurer in 2007. Previously he was a finance manager at Brit Insurance working on both the syndicate and establishing the UK division’s systems and processes. Prior to that he has worked for Lloyd’s agencies and at Pannell Kerr Forster handling Lloyd’s syndicate finance activities
Birrell commented: “The delivery of an efficient and flexible infrastructure based on sound regulatory practice is at the very heart of the Castel MGA formation model;” adding that Posner would play a “key role” to ensure that “our current and future underwriting teams are given all the tools and facilities they need to create and grow profitable books of niche business.”
Posner added: “The MGA formation sector is an exciting and fast developing element of the UK insurance market. I am very much looking forward to working with Castel and utilizing my operations and finance experience to provide its underwriting teams with the responsive support they need to be successful from day one.”
