Bermuda-based Ironshore International announced that it has introduced enhanced insurance coverage for Kidnap & Ransom (K&R) risks to protect Latin American based clients against unexpected events. The bulletin said Ironshore’s “comprehensive K&R insurance program provides protection against kidnap for ransom, extortion, hijacking, and wrongful detention.”
Pepe Marquez, Latin American Managing Director of Ironshore International, said: “High net worth individuals and their families face increased personal endangerment, whether at home, on vacation travel, or while engaged in studies abroad.”
Ironshore said the “policy coverage includes event-related expenses, such as ransom, loss of ransom in transit, personal accident, and legal and medical services. The program enhancements incorporate both insurance and professional services protection through its exclusive relationship with Hazelwood Street Consultants, a global crisis management and personal security firm. In addition, the coverage incorporates free inclusive risk management consultation advice and support of an integrated psychiatric team throughout an entire incident.”
It also explained that “Hazelwood analysts offer expert guidance regarding proactive personal security measures for our clients. In the event of a crisis, Hazelwood deploys a team of expatriate first responders from its global network of trained consultants to provide on-ground support within hours of the event being reported.”
