Iron-Starr Forms Underwriting Alliance with Oil Casualty Insurance

Ironshore Inc. has added Oil Casualty Insurance, Ltd. (OCIL) as a subscribing insurer to Iron-Starr Excess Agency Ltd. for Financial Lines business. Iron-Starr currently underwrites on behalf of Ironshore Insurance Ltd. (IIL), Starr Insurance & Reinsurance Ltd., Hamilton Re Ltd. and Antares Syndicate 1274. With the addition of OCIL, Iron-Starr will be able to offer increased capacity for directors and officers liability, cyber liability and transactional liability for Financial Lines clients.

Iron-Starr was founded to offer syndicated capacity to clients for excess liability products through a single access point. Bermuda remains a core market for purchasing such products, and the addition of OCIL to Iron-Starr strengthens its capabilities and creates a larger pool of excess capacity available to current and potential clients.

According to Mitch Blaser, Iron-Starr CEO, the partnership allows the company to offer capacity through a single access point, with concurrency of terms and access to several balance sheets. He added Iron-Starr continues to seek “likeminded partners” for lines of business that have the demand and opportunity.
