A Hutchinson County Grand Jury returned Indictments last month against insurance agents Lori A. Aman, 38, and Todd H. Graber, 34, for several counts of forgery.
These charges stem from incidents between August of 1998 and March of 1999 when Aman allegedly forged a client’s signature on an application, produced a false insurance identification card and altered several insurance declaration sheets.
This resulted in a client operating their motor vehicle without insurance for over 16 months while believing he had insurance coverage. These acts occurred while Aman worked at Graber’s insurance agency, Insurance Services Inc. located in Freeman, S.D. The Grand Jury charged Aman with five counts of forgery and Graber with one count of aiding and abetting forgery.
Each forgery charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in the state penitentiary, a $5,000 fine, or both the jail sentence and fine. Both Aman and Graber are scheduled for a court appearance on August 15, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hutchinson County Courthouse.
The charges were brought by South Dakota’s new Insurance Fraud Prevention Unit that was created by the 1999 Legislature to combat insurance fraud across South Dakota.
