Illinois-based RLI Corp. promoted Michael J. Stone to president and chief operating officer of RLI’s two primary operating subsidiaries, RLI Insurance Company and Mt. Hawley Insurance Company. RLI also promoted Stephen A. Lindell to RLI Insurance Company senior vice president of casualty operations, including general liability and commercial umbrella. Each promotion is effective January 1, 2002.
Stone joined RLI in 1996 as vice president, claims, after 19 years at The Travelers. He has served as RLI executive vice president since 1998. Stone was named the 2000 Hammond Memorial Scholarship Fund Claims Person of the Year.
Lindell joined RLI in 1987 as vice president of casualty in the company’s Glastonbury, Conn., branch office. He was promoted to vice president, specialty casualty, in 1995.
RLI Corp., through its subsidiaries RLI Insurance Company, Mt. Hawley Insurance Company, Underwriters Indemnity Company and Planet Indemnity Company, underwrites selected property and casualty insurance products.
