Wis. Governor Appoints New Insurance Commissioner, Fills Other Posts

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle announced the appointment of Sean Dilweg as insurance commissioner as of Jan. 1. Dilweg replaces Jorge Gomez, who announced his resignation last month. Dilweg is currently the executive assistant at DOA. He will be replaced by Patrick Henderson, the governor’s legislative director.

Doyle also appointed his campaign chairman to a position in the state Department of Administration. Dan Schooff, who ran Doyle’s successful re-election campaign, will serve as the department’s deputy secretary.

Additional appointees are:

Kevin Hayden as secretary of the Department of Health and Family Services effective Jan. 8. Hayden is currently the department’s administrator for the Division of Health Care Financing, responsible for overseeing the state’s Medicaid program and a variety of similar health care programs.

Roger Ervin as secretary of the Department of Revenue effective Jan. 1. He replaces Michael Morgan, who was appointed the secretary of DOA earlier this month. Ervin is currently a senior executive in the Office of Government and Public Affairs at the law firm of Foley and Lardner.

Ron Hermes as legislative director effective Jan. 1. He is currently legislative liaison with the Department of Health and Family Services.

Randy Romanski as executive assistant at the Department of Natural Resources effective Jan. 4. He is currently deputy chief of staff.
