Residents in the Parkside neighborhood in the St. Clair County town of Centreville are more uneasy than ever after someone attempted to set another house on fire over the weekend.
Since January, residents have reported that six houses have burned down and there have been 12 attempts to burn houses, including the latest attempt on May 24. The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
The resident of the house that caught fire on May 24, said he was inside sleeping and his dogs didn’t bark.
But he said his neighbors knocked on every window of the house alerting him to the danger so he could move to safety.
