The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has appointed Jeff Lange as regional vice president of The Hartford’s Chicago Regional Office.

The office provides underwriting, sales and loss control services for the company’s independent property/casualty insurance agents and their customers in the upper Midwest, including Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, as well as North and South Dakota.

In his new role, Lange will lead The Hartford’s agency relationships as well as small commercial, personal lines, middle market, specialty practices and life cross-sell operations in Chicago and the upper Midwest.

Lange joined Hartford in 2002 as assistant vice president of strategic marketing in the Sales and Distribution organization. Lange subsequently held positions of increasing responsibility within the Sales organization, including assistant regional vice president of the Southwest Regional Office, branch manager of the Houston, Texas, office and, most recently, branch vice president in Houston.

Prior to joining The Hartford, Lange worked at Marsh & McClellan Companies and Deloitte & Touche. He replaces Steve Wachtel, who is retiring after 23 years at The Hartford.

    wondering says:
Does this guy have a soul? Or will he continue to sell out good underwriting just to gain premium like his predecessor? That is a long-term losing strategy.
