the real surprises that I see, are 1) really? companies would look to FCCI for their new executives?, 2) is there a single person that is going to post some sort of support for this woman? the lack of not even 1 note of support says a lot, and 3) is anyone really worried about Grange going in the tank? I mean, outside of Ohio, is this even news?

I am completely shocked by her appointment to President of Grange. Ms. Dinnin is without question knowledgable in insurance; but has had several jobs besides what was mentioned in the press release. Can’t say anymore but “shocked”…………

I, too, am shocked. Anyone remember the “Peter Principle”? Elizabeth has finally reached it! Nearly ruined FCCI before leaving.

Well….you forgot to mention Meridian Insurance (now State Auto). She practically dismantled that company too and the employee morale was in the tank.

It is shocking Grange couldn’t find others from within and/or external candidates. It will be an interesting ride for those Grange employees under her control……..

I worked for Elizabeth and can attest to her solid insurance knowlege. I can also attest to her inability to let anyone do anything without her express permission. She is really controlling and that demoralizes the troops. She needs to know everything and have everyone at her fingertips. I can’t imagine that working at the President level. Agents at our company came out of woodwork after she left, agreeing to write with us once she was gone. Interesting choice- maybe she has changed???

Interestingly, I am an agent and our industry is relatively small network that over the years you know the players within the Company and Agency ranks…..but Elizabeth had a reputation not so desirable and I once saw her in action berating an Employee in front of a group of agents.

I was embarrassed for her; but particularly the Employee and shortly thereafter it wasn’t too long that she was on the outside looking in….but of course with a nice severance package!!!

If I were in mid-level or senior management of Grange, I would be contacting Recruiters and updating my resume’ because it is a matter of time she will implode Grange……….

What a ridiculous decision by a board that’s either addled and senile or totally clueless. Either way the results the same for the policyholders. One train wreck after another including Fire Fund, Meridian, Monroe, FCCI and now Grange.

When this thing tanks the lawyers will be circling. Hard to plead ignorance with this track record and plenty of people willing to testify.

Mary that was a good one; but I do not represent Grange. However, I do know alot of solid insurance professionals within Grange and honestly feel for each of them to see a good Company be challenged to succeed under her Stalin type leadership…..

Not sure why lawyers would be involved- Elizabeth never did anything a lawyer would be needed for… She merely demoralized and overmanaged and wasn’t interested in anyone’s ideas or suggestions except her own. Interestingly, she was so well known in the industry that good job openings under her stayed open- bad news travels fast. And when she couldn’t get something accomplished it was because of everyone else. But she was and apparently still is very good at wooing the board and senior management. Just a matter of time and a lot of good people gone…

Elizabeth must know something about insurance and a great deal about sucking up to senior management. But she has no instincts at all for market strategy or dealing with independent agents — and these could be considered strengths compared to her extremely poor skills and effectiveness in working with staff. When the job market improves, Grange employees will be running for the exits. Until then, you have our sympathies.

    Mary,

they are needed when the company is insolvent and being liquidated. Someone is going to pay to make the policyholders whole. The D+O policy limits will not be anywhere near what’s needed.

Since the track record of previous failures is fairly easy to verify you won’t have much defense potential. Kind of like hiring a habitual DWI driver and then acting surprised when they drink and drive and take out another vehicle.

If your professional evaluations are as spot on as your reading comprehension abilities, it would appear that Elizabeth will do a great job. As it states in the article, she is president of commercial lines, not president of the Grange.

Gomer: She may only be President of Commercial Lines; but you really do not know her and she will take that title literally and in her mind it will be President of Grange.

Grange has a nice presence in commercial lines and does a decent job; but if her past follows the present and future, I would suspect she will dismantle the operation with her controlling measures and Dictator type management style.

Trust me, agents will quickly shut them down in time……

Good point elizibeth errr gomer. How could being president of commercial lines have any impact on Grange? Not an important position at all.

Get back to firing people and ticking off customers and stop reading message boards.

Bob—Dinnin was clearly not at Meridian Insurance long enough to “dismantle” and was indeed far from being the source of their woes. I personally wish her well in her new position.

So is it really MidWest Mary making these comments or Ms Dinnin since no one has said anything nice since this press release was posted???

The No. 1 surprise is that there are so many posts about Grange, period. This carrier is like a pimple on my rear-end. Meaningless? And it only goes to show that the names mentioned along with them are Meridian, FCCI, Monroe Guaranty.

More pimples of the month that just come and go and fade away. Grange won’t be a factor in 5 years. But then they really aren’t a factor now.

I think this really reflects bad on Grange and the new CEO who hired her. They will have to live with the issues she brings to the table and poor management ability.

I have worked for Elizabeth and found her to be very direct, but certainly not Stalin. Her style can rub some people the wrong way, but some people need to be rubbed the wrong way. Sometimes, admittedly, she can be a bit too focused on “What have you done for me lately?” I do not think she will run Grange into the ground. Message boards are a great way to throw out mean insults and have no accountability for your actions. You can accuse me of being Elizabeth, but I am not. You’ll never know though because that is the beauty of message boards.
