Seriously? Or is it April 1st already? What underwriter would have the nerve to get his manager’s approval on this kind of a deal? Lloyd’s of Lubbock?
Google pictures of this rolling risk wreck lead me to think it’s darn near uninsureable in the US – no restraints from falling off, no helmets for those who do, a wide enough “dispersion pattern” for running over ex-passengers, and then just add the alcohol on top for the “fun factor”.
I lived in Columbus for quite a while and would not consider riding any kind of bicycle in the short north. Getting smushed by a car or truck is inevitable if alcohol is added to the fun. A 19 passenger bicycle wobbling around these neighborhoods will lead to 19 smushed partiers.
My friends have done this quite often in downtown Minneapolis, with no injuries or issues, and they love it. The people I’ve seen doing this aren’t the young partiers, seems to be more of the middle age group out to have fun and do something a bit different…wish we had them in Hotlanta!
The drivers/operator of the pedal pubs are not the riders. It is directed and controlled by the operator. They have authority to stop and direct unruly rider to disembark and the ride is over.
We have an exclusive program for the ‘pedal pubs’ and the coverage is broad including A&B, Phys Dam, and of course limits up to $5MM primary. The carrier is not lloyds of Lubbuck and are very familiar with this type risk.

Who writes the insurance for these? I have one that I am trying to place. thanks! Pam
I am looking for a market for a risk of this nature, can you send me details on your program and what’s needed to submit for quoting?
Thank you, Pamela
