3 Universities Receive Grants from Griffith Insurance Education Foundation

June 15, 2012

The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, based in Columbus, Ohio, has awarded $15,000 in grant money to three universities to support their Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) programs.

The grant monies came from the Robert P. Ashlock Memorial Fund, which was established in memory of the former president and CEO of Assurex Global, an exclusive global partnership of the independent insurance agents and brokers.

Arcadia University, Ohio Northern University and Western New England University each received grant money to support the development of new risk management and insurance programs.

“Career placement rates for graduates with RMI degrees have reached 100 percent at some universities; it’s an extremely sought after degree for employers,” said Jason Terrell of the Griffith Foundation — the organization that manages the Ashlock Fund. “The grant monies will help encourage the growth and expansion of these university programs by providing vital funds for additional faculty positions.”

All three academic programs submitted proposals to The Griffith Foundation, which outlined their expansion goals and pinpointed their specific program funding needs.

According to Jim Hackbarth, Assurex Global’s president and CEO, “It is very important for our independent firms to keep their employee pipeline full with qualified, enthusiastic candidates able to provide the level of client service their customers expect and deserve. We’re thrilled to help these three university programs through the Robert P. Ashlock Memorial Fund because, ultimately, we’re supporting our industry and the partnership of agents and brokers we serve.”
